Lenten Banners

Lenten banners bear 40 circular forms dyed (20 on each banner) and over-dyed using cochineal to represent the forty days of Christians’ Lenten journey. Cochineal is a natural dye made from insects native to Central and South America. This humble hemp fabric which is often used to dress the departed in the East Asian funeral cultures is transformed as we seek to be transformed in Christ through renewal at Easter.
